Even though you’re brushing, your dog’s coat always ends up matted, often requiring a short shave down by your groomer. This workshop is designed for busy dog owners who struggle to maintain their dog’s coat at home and between grooming sessions at the salon. Bring your dog and tools so we can ensure you have everything you need to succeed. Not suitable for heavily matted dogs. 

Course outline

  • behavioural techniques to help your dog comply

  • washing techniques for your dog’s coat type

  • drying techniques for your dog’s coat type

  • correct brushing and combing techniques to avoid knots and matting

  • understand the different coat types and changing cycles of the coat

  • selecting the right equipment

  • practical tips and skills to help you maintain the coat in between grooms

Essential Dog Emergency First Aid

This course provides essential knowledge and skills to calmly and efficiently deal with emergencies that could help save a dog's life. It's ideal for pet owners and those working in the pet industry.

Course outline

  • Learn how to properly address wounds, seizures, heat exposure, bleeding, or suspected poisoning in your dog before safely transporting them for medical attention

  • Learn CPR using Canberra's only CasPeR-certified CPR dog, which provides hygienic mouth-to-snout resuscitation, hand compressions, femoral pulse checks, and ventilation
